Mixing Yarns

Calgary is in complete winter mode and that inspires even more knitting. As always, we just can't stick to the plan. I was supposed to make a few more Awesome earflaps for adults and kids, but today it just didn't feel like it. Instead I decided to mix some yarns and make another neckwarmer - warm and textured, mixing a thread of 100% linen, 100% handspun(by Mavis) multicoloured merino wool and a one-colour wool & acrylic mix.

New Knitting Pattern Released - Spiral Hat

Ever since we started making te Spiral hat/beret, people have been asking us if we have a pattern for sale. There is something about this hat - it just looks good and flattering on everyone. And the best part - it doesn't mess up your hair. You can wear it pulled back in a slouchy way or more like a beanie.

As always, the pattern is available on Etsy.com/knittles along with other patterns by knittles.

Last week we added one more market in December - Market Collective in Kensington. This would be our 3rd year participating in Christmas Market Collective. This event never disappoints and always offers a great last minute shopping which I am very guilty of.

Also if you don't have anything planned for this week end - head over to their October event for good music, handmade goods and some good time.

We are also very excited about some new colours for adult Awesome earflaps in Cilantro and Taupe and some new boyish toddler earflaps.

Although it looks like we've abandoned the blog, we haven't abandoned other knit-related projects. Now that the little ones are ready to tolerate a little bit of separation from their mommies, we are full on getting ready for this season of markets. Here are the spots we'll be appearing at in the next two and a half months:

November 15-18
Calgary Art Market at Telus Convention Centre: artmarketcraftsale.com

November 29 - December 2
Calgary Festival of Crafts: festivalofcrafts.ca The organizers have been especially kind to us and have used our Awesome Earflap images on the website, tickets and other promotional materials.

December 6 - 9
Butterdome Craft Sale in Edmonton: butterdome.ca

December 15-16
Market Collective, Kensington Ant Hill Building marketcollective.ca

Finds : My Happy Home

Our kitchen renovations are so very close to being complete, and we will finally be able to move on back upstairs and actually live in daylight again.  Since we've been in transition for so long, I can't wait to finally be able to decorate our new space, and actually have people over. Playdates, dinner parties, cooking parties... the possibilities are endless.  Here are some of my favorite accessories to brighten up and warm our space.

Friday's Finds : Picnic Season

Nothing like a good old fashioned picnic to end the week. How we can go from snowstorm to sunny, picnic weather from one week to another is beyond me, but this is Calgary. I even got a sunburn the other day from a morning spent at the park. I hope you enjoy this weeks finds, and of course the warmer weather.

i heart bikes : Friday's Finds

Hoping for spring weather to finally come as we just had another snow storm this week (ugh!), in May, no less. My mind is set on trading in my just a little too big, slouched over, mountain bike, for an upright, and comfortable city bike. Cruising through the local parks, down the river pathway, and to run errands is not only eco friendly while keeping you in shape, but also brings back the feelings of freedom & joy of riding a bike as a child. Happy Cruising!

21 speed, upright bicycle that has extra squishy tires & comfy seat.
Great for cruising as well as plowing up the hills of the city.

Wicked hoodie with cutaway hood for visibility and extra long length to prevent any unwanted flashing of the behind. Looks stylish too. Check out her line of cycling wear made for the urban biker.

Designed to fit snug under your bike helmet to keep your head nice & warm, perfect for our cool mornings and evenings.
